Winco Revitalizes one of America’s Landmarks    (More on this project here)
 

Landry’s Restaurant Inc. needed a unique company to perform various high reach task at the one of America’s icons, The Tower of The America’s, in February of 2006. A combination of painting, mid-air power washing, waterproofing the outside glass, installing an extensive cable barricade system as well as a custom designed stainless window framing system around the perimeter of the observation walkway. Landry’s needed this company to be innovative and experienced in steel fabrication as both the stainless steel window frame system and the cable barricade would need extensive design and structural considerations. Both systems would go around the full perimeter of the observation walkway deck and must attach to existing structures. The frame and cable system would need to withstand extreme wind loads and be aesthetically pleasing.

Winco of South Texas was chosen for this complex task. This project was completed and received numerous complements and praises from the management. We were proud to work on one of America’s great landmarks in a quest to add perhaps some flare for the future of the Tower and to be enjoyed by millions of visitors.
 

Winco also designed and fabricated a stainless steel framing system for the walkway viewing windows, which comes off of the parapet wall at 3 feet and up another 3 feet so that those on the walkway could have a clear view thru the glass of all San Antonio. This project was difficult due to the many inconsistencies in the parapet cap and spacing. Winco custom fit all of the specially fabricated pieces into place and wet sealed each so that the walkway looked streamline and professional.
 

Winco also caulked all the high rise glass, window frames and painted much of the outside of the tower to add the final touches to this massive project.
